This is the NCAA's Waterloo. If USC does not suffer severe repercussions that make it all but impossible for them to compete on a national level for five years in both major sports, the idea that the rules mean anything is over.

Re. Chow: It's Not Over 'Til It's Over (47 clicks)
CNC could have ended it with an emphatic statement that no matter what he was offered, he would honor his contract. Right now, the only statement we have from his camp is that sc has yet to contact CNC. And, that the rep would feel duty bound to present all offers to CNC should they develop. Again, CNC could have instructed his rep to not accept or proffer any offers — a way of saying that he would not leave under any circumstances. He didn’t.

Cowardly Cheatey's Escape Thread Cont: Speculation On Candidates/Recruiting Consequences (162 clicks)
Per the updates in our last post it's looking lot more than just mere speculation that Cowardly Cheatey Petey might be high tailing out of South Central Los Angeles for a job with the Seattle Seahawks. While this is not a done deal yet we have lot more than smoke signals. So let's chat a little about possible coaching candidates for a scandal tainted program (here is our two year old list) which should be facing severe sanctions from the NCAA if the allegations involving Bush, McKnight, Mayo and who knows what else is beneath the surface stories were to be proven true.

Howland: Letdown? What letdown? (49 clicks)
A week ago, UCLA followed a crucial Pac-10 season-opening win over Arizona State with a dud against Arizona, a classic letdown game to most but anything but to head coach Ben Howland. After a stunning, buzzer-beating 76-75 win at Cal on Wednesday, UCLA is wary of another letdown at Stanford today at 3 p.m. Again, perhaps letdown is not the right word.
