Stover agrees to join UCLA men's basketball squad (267 clicks)
Center Anthony Stover, UCLA's top remaining big man target, gave UCLA men's basketball coach Ben Howland a non-binding oral commitment this morning, according to his father, Craig. The 6-foot-10, 205-pound Stover, who recently transferred from Renaissance Academy of La Canada, will have a press conference Monday at Windward High of Los Angeles.

To show what it's like to scrap with Richard Hamilton every day, Arron Afflalo held out his arms. "Look at this," he said. "I have the most scratches of all-time in Pistons history." One of the highlights of the daily scrimmages is the physical and verbal jousting between the two shooting guards. On Wednesday, Afflalo knocked Hamilton hard to the floor and when Afflalo went to help him up, Hamilton angrily waved him away.

Coaches vs. Cancer field set (232 clicks)
Finally, with a little more than a month to go before the start of the season, the field for the Coaches vs. Cancer tournament is set. UCLA will host one of the four pods, and as I reported a month ago, the Bruins will host Prairie View A&M on Nov. 12, and the other game will feature Weber State vs. Miami, Ohio.

UCLA basketball to open tournament against Prairie View A & M (198 clicks)
Bruins will host regional action of the 2K Sports Classic in November at Pauley Pavilion. The final two rounds will be played at Madison Square Garden. UCLA will play Prairie View A&M at about 7 p.m. Nov. 12 at Pauley Pavilion in the first round of the 2K Sports Classic basketball tournament, just after Miami of Ohio will play Weber State at 4:15 p.m at Pauley.
