John Wooden, UCLA's legendary former basketball coach, is resting comfortably this evening in an area hospital. The name of the hospital is being withheld at the request of the family. Coach Wooden, 97, is doing fine and has visited with family throughout the day, according to his daughter, Nan Muehlhausen.

After the loss at Washington, which was a Sunday game in Seattle after a Thursday game at Washington State, UCLA coach Ben Howland said he changed the Bruins' schedule for this weekend. During the Washington trip, UCLA practiced on Friday and sat around the hotel on Saturday before playing Sunday against Washington.

Kevin Love admitted he was tired and out of it during and after last weekend's game against Oregon. I did some checking around and was told it was a combination of reasons. First, he hasn't been feeling well, fighting a cold. Second, the pounding of games and practices is taking a toll on him, and part of it was he felt worn down.

#3 Bruins To Play In Urban Invitational This Weekend (65 clicks)
The third ranked Bruin baseball team will take part in the inaugural Urban Invitational this Friday, Saturday and Sunday along with Southern, Bethune-Cookman and USC. The Urban Invitational is run by MLB's RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner cities) program and two of its participants (Southern and Bethune-Cookman) are historically black colleges. The Saturday games of the Urban Invitational will take place at the one year old RBI Academy in Compton and be broadcast live on ESPN2.
