UCLA's offense didn't look nearly as good as it did in the scrimmage last weekend. The first-team offense didn't score and Patrick Cowan and Ben Olson were a combined 8 for 20. Afterward, coach Rick Neuheisel said, in short, the passing game needed to make a dramatic improvement in the next week to give it some momentum heading into the offseason. The first- and second-team offensive line had trouble with penalties -- holds and false starts.

Kevin Love was at UCLA for only one season, but he wants to be part of the legacy of great centers to play for the Bruins and isn't going to forget the school any time soon, he said. "I'm just looking to leave a legacy at UCLA,'' Love said. In a weirdly twisting Thursday, in which UCLA freshman center Kevin Love and sophomore guard Russell Westbrook declared for the NBA draft, junior power forward Luc Richard Mbah a Moute altered his plans slightly at the end. Mbah a Moute was supposed to announce his decision to join Love and Westbrook by putting his names in the draft, but sources said he is delaying the announcement for a day. He is tentatively scheduled to make his announcement Friday.

Freshman Kevin Love and sophomore Russell Westbrook announced today at separate press conferences that they planned to place their names in the NBA draft this summer but would not sign with agents. In addition, they both will continue to attend classes this year so as not to harm UCLA athletic's academic standing. By not immediately signing with an agent, either player can pull his name out of the draft up to ten days prior and still retain his collegiate eligibility. This year's draft will take place June 26.

A Brilliant take on the QB situation (151 clicks)
OK, it may seem like a stretch, but for those of us out there on the first day of spring ball it was hard not to notice that Chow was spending an inordinate amount of time having his QB's perform a drill in which they all lined up on a line facing one direction and then simultaneously on Chow's mark pretended to take a snap, drop back, and look for a receiver. The QB's then stopped, turned 90 degrees, and did it all again.
