This is from UCLA....junior tailback Craig Sheppard had reconstructive surgery on the AC joint of his left shoulder late last week. He will be sidelined four to six months.

Football Recruiting Roundup (278 clicks)
One thing that stands out about these commits so far is that they are, so far, all on the defensive side of the ball. I'm thinking thats kinda funky especially because Neuheisel and Chow are proven and well-reputed offensive minds. Then again, DeWayne Walker has been around for 3 years recruiting these kids that have committed while Neuheisel and Chow are just getting fingers wet.

Terry Donahue: UCLA Alumnus of the Year (224 clicks)
Last week, the UCLA Alumni Association named Terry Donahue their 2008 Edward A. Dickson Alumnus of the Year. Donahue was head coach of the school's football team for 20 years and holds his alma mater's record for most wins.

Van's future (213 clicks)
I saw CB Rodney Van at the USC-UCLA track meet on Saturday. Many of his teammates were at NFL mini-camps across the country, but Van remained optimistic about his football future. He said he'll go through an evaluation process with the Buffalo Bills soon, and he hopes he can attend their next camp.

Austin on track future (158 clicks)
Terrence Austin said he's not sure whether he'll continue to jump in track meets (although the season is nearing a close anyway). He still has a couple of meets - including the Pac-10 Championships - to try to make a regional-qualifying mark in the high jump. He jumped 6-8 3/4 on Saturday in his first compeition of the season, one week after spring football ended.
