The Bruins round out their non-conference schedule with a visit from the Kansas State Wildcats. Both teams are in rebuilding mode and the outcome of this game will be a key indicator of the progress of each program.Bill Snyder returns to the University, and the coaching ranks, after retiring in 2005. He made some headlines for immediately trying to get the Wildcats out of their scheduled game with UCLA.

Rest In Peace Don (132 clicks)
I woke up this morning and was browsing through my UCLA reads and then found one of the toughest news I have ever read as a UCLA fan when seeing this thread about "EZ Beach" who was known as "EZ" on Bruin Report Online. EZ (Don Kramer) passed away. I have never met EZ but I have been reading his passionate posts about all things UCLA football for years now on BRO. In all my years of following UCLA football and basketball via online communities (I have been member of that community all the way back when BruinReportOnline was part of Rivals.com in 1999).

UCLA football preview: Defensive line (265 clicks)
UCLA linebacker Reggie Carter has a challenge for the Bruins’ offensive linemen this training camp.
“I would like to see someone block Brian Price for a while,” Carter said at the Pacific 10 Conference’s media day. “I have never seen that.”
Price, a junior defensive tackle, is the centerpiece of what should be a strong starting defensive front this season. His abilities are such that UCLA coaches are already fretting that he may jump to the NFL after this season.

A Neu Theme in 2009? (141 clicks)
If relentless optimism was the dominant theme in 2008, are we up for a change in 2009? I've been noticing a trend in the articles on BN and also among other media outlets of a certain brash confidence among our players (offense and defense) and coaching staff. So far, I like it.

Upgrade or Downgrade? Right Tackle (157 clicks)
After this, it's just one post left with "Upgrade or Downgrade? QB", and we'll have hit every position with new starters in 2009 (except for special teams). For today, we're looking at Right Tackle. In 2008 we had a couple different starters at right tackle, but it was The Mike Harris Show (I mean that in a good way!) for the last 5 games. After spring in 2009, Jeff Baca is slated to start at the right tackle spot.

It is an eager time of the year in the college football world. The season begins in one month. Thirty-three days from now, UCLA will host San Diego State at the Rose Bowl. That is close enough to begin speculation, but still too far away to know the most important things – what a team's depth chart will look like, how it will improve throughout training camp, how it will be affected by injury or how its freshmen will acclimate.

UCLA football preview: Running backs (253 clicks)
UCLA Coach Rick Neuheisel wanted to make one thing perfectly clear last week at the Pacific 10 Conference’s media day.
“We’re going to be able to run the ball or die trying this year,” Neuheisel said, then paused, then hammered it home again. “We’re going to be able to run the ball or die trying this year.”
A dramatic leap in ability and execution will be required to keep the Bruins off life-support.
UCLA ranked 116 out of 120 BCS Division teams in rushing last season, averaging 82.8 yards per game. The Bruins’ average of 2.6 yards per carry was fodder for three-yards-and-ground-to-dust jokes.
